3- "Worship That Is Acceptable to God"
The Lord shed great light on the subject of acceptable worship through His conversation with the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4).
The woman said to the Lord, "Our fathers worshiped on this mountain (Mount Gerizim), but you say that Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship."The Lord answered her:
"Believe Me, the hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem... God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. The Father is seeking such people to worship Him."
The Lord revealed a clear divine truth that rejects all forms of worship that are merely outward, routine, and empty of spirit and truth. God is Spirit, so how can we seek Him with our lips but not with our hearts? How can we repeat words that we may not understand or truly mean?
Have our prayers become nothing more than traditions passed down by our fathers? Are our prayers truly expressing what is in our hearts, or have they become mere imitations of the prayers of those who came before us? Perhaps these prayers expressed the faith of our believing fathers in their time, but are we simply repeating their words without a genuine personal relationship with God?
Dear friends, God desires worship that comes sincerely from the heart and agrees with the divine truth revealed in His Holy Word. This becomes possible when His Holy Spirit dwells within us and His Word has a place in our hearts. Otherwise, what true relationship connects us to Him?
We must understand that the Holy Spirit dwells within us when we accept Jesus as the Lord and Master of our lives, having been cleansed from our sins by His blood.
Indeed, we need to grow spiritually and develop a genuine, personal relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ, our only Mediator and Intercessor.
