"Out of the Eater Came Something to Eat, and Out of the Strong Came Something Sweet!" (Judges 14:14)
This was Samson’s riddle to his enemies after he had killed a lion. When he returned some time later, he found honey inside its carcass, took some of it, and ate it.
The question is: Is it possible for food and sweetness to come out of something fierce and destructive, such as a predatory lion? Can blessings come to us through difficult circumstances and painful crises?
The answer is yes. Did not the Lord use Joseph’s imprisonment, even though he had been unjustly treated, to bring him out later and raise him to a position of great authority in the kingdom, second only to Pharaoh? Did Joseph not say to his brothers, who had sold him into slavery, "You meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive"(Genesis 50:20)?
Did not the Lord turn the curse that Balaam the diviner intended to pronounce into a blessing? Did He not turn the bitter waters into sweet water?
Did not the Lord turn the prison of Paul and Silas into a place of prayer and praise, resulting in the salvation of the jailer and his entire household?
The presence of God changes everything. Do we not see that the Lord wants to transform us into people of prayer who experience the power of His work even in the midst of the storm?
Through all these circumstances, the Lord refines our faith. He brings us out of the furnace of trials more mature, so that we may be conformed to the image of His Son.
Therefore, let us wait patiently on the Lord and not lose heart. Let patience have its perfect work in us.
