"Beware of covetousness, for when a person has much, his life does not consist in the things he possesses." (Luke 12:15).
Human life on earth is short.
Many people are concerned with securing life on earth.
This is important, but it is not the most important thing. They accumulate and accumulate, building palaces and luxurious homes. Their primary concern is money.
They forget that human life on earth is short.
"You do not know what tomorrow will bring. For what is your life? It is a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes." (James 4:14).
Therefore, the Lord warns us against a life of greed, because a person's life does not consist of his wealth. The greedy person thinks he will live forever on earth.
He forgets that he is a guest in this world.
Jesus said, "Beware of covetousness, for when a person has much, his life does not consist in the wealth he possesses."
And he told them a parable, saying, "A certain rich man whose land yielded abundantly, thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?"And he said,"This I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger, and there I will store all my crops and my goods.
And I will say to my soul,"Soul, you have many good things laid up for many years. Take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry."
But God said to him,"Fool! Your soul will be required of you tonight. But those things you have prepared, whose will they be?"
"So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God." (Luke 12:15-21)
Our Heavenly Father, I protect myself from a life of greed.
I want to be
Rich in knowing You first.
Rich in knowing Your commandments and Your Word.
Rich in Your grace, mercy, and love.
Rich in following Your guidance, listening to Your voice, and doing Your will.
I glory in You, O Lord.
Let not the wise boast in his wisdom, nor let the mighty boast in his might, nor let the rich boast in his riches.
But let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord.
"Who exercises lovingkindness, justice, and righteousness in the earth, for in these things I delight, declares the Lord." (Jeremiah 9:23, 24)
Have a blessed day in the light of Christ.
