"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as you teach and admonish one another in all wisdom in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." (Colossians 3:16).
The Word of God commands us to have the Word dwell richly within our hearts
How does the Word dwell richly in our hearts???
"The Word dwells richly, meaning when we read the Word with focus, attention and contemplation. The Word dwells richly when we hear it and ask the Spirit of God to understand it. So take care how you hear it." (Luke 8:18).
It dwells richly when we repeat it, write it, memorize it, recite it, and pray about it, meaning that it reaches the long-term memory that retains information for a long time, and thus we are able to recall it at the appropriate time, and the word does not disappear from the sensory memory after five minutes or a short period of hearing it.
Because the Word of God, when it dwells richly in our hearts, will it teach us how to live a life of victory??
Because it will be our weapon in any spiritual battle we face, because the Word of God is like a weapon, we use it in all the trials and difficulties that we face in our lives.
“For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword” (Hebrews 4:12).
“The word of the Lord, when it dwells richly in our hearts, keeps us from sinning. I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you” (Psalm 119:11).
The word of the Lord, when it dwells richly in our hearts, convicts us, cleanses us, and washes us.
“Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin” (Psalm 51:2).
The Word of God, when it dwells richly, will guide us, light our way, and protect us.
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." (Psalm 119:105).
The Word of God, when it dwells richly in our hearts, will fill us with the knowledge of His will, with all wisdom and spiritual understanding.
We will grow in the knowledge of God.
The Word of God, when it dwells in riches of psalms and spiritual songs, will fill our hearts with the peace of God that surpasses all understanding.
"We will delight ourselves in the Lord, and delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." (Psalm 37:4).
The Word of God, when it dwells in our hearts, will satisfy us and will be our spiritual food every day before physical food.
Jesus said:
"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." (Matthew 4:4).
Our Heavenly Father
