They will be with me
"Father, I desire that they also whom you have given me may be with me where I am, that they may behold my glory which you have given me" (John 17:24)
The desire of the Lord’s heart is to be with him for all eternity, where he is, so that we may see his glory, his own glory on high, as one who has a special place in the heart of the Father, and the acquired glory with which God glorified him at his right hand in heaven as a reward for him, because he glorified him on earth (John 13:31, 32; 17:4, 5).
Then we will realize how the Father loved the Son before the foundation of the world. In his farewell talk with his disciples, on the night he was betrayed, when they were filled with sorrow for his departure, he gave them a precious promise to comfort their hearts and cheer them up, saying: "I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself"(John 14:2, 3).
How this promise has comforted miserable hearts to this day! He did not say, "I will send and take you,"no. This does not satisfy him, but he says, "I will come."This is His love that makes Him come Himself, for love values its beloved. If He had told His disciples that He would send His angels to take them to Him, His love would not have shone, nor would their value have appeared in His eyes. But where is He going? He is going to the Father’s house, to be in His joyful and glorious presence. He is going to the spacious house, but He says: I will take you to Me, and not only to the house. It is the center of the affections of His saints. The house may be strange to us, but it is familiar to us, for we have known it and are connected to it from here, and He will bring us to Himself as the Bride. He also says: "That where I am, there you may be also."Yes, we will be in the same glory with Him throughout eternity, and we will not be separated from Him for a moment, although each one will have his own enjoyment, although all have the same place and position in the heart of Christ and in the house of many mansions, which the love of the divine Bridegroom has prepared for the redeemed Bride. What glory! What grace!
