"Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full."(John 16:24)
The Lord knows all our needs, but He wants us to know—what should we ask for each day?
The Bible says:
"Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full." (John 16:24)
But often, we are concerned with the Lord only fulfilling our material and tangible needs. If the Lord does not fulfill what we ask for, we become prey to despair and frustration, saying, "God does not care about us, God does not hear us." This leads to the loss of a loving relationship with the Father and trust in our God, and to turning away from everything related to Him.
The Lord's ways are different from ours.
"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:9)
The Lord's time is different from ours.
"For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven." (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
Therefore, the Lord wants us to seek what is more precious and greater than earthly needs, so that we may live a life of true joy.
So, what do we seek?
The Bible says:
"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." (Matthew 6:33)
•The Lord wants us to first seek His kingdom to be established in our hearts, and to open our hearts to the Lord Jesus to guide our lives according to His will and purpose.
•The Lord wants us to seek the fruit of the Holy Spirit:
"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith." (Galatians 5:22)
For our joy to be complete and for us to live the Kingdom life on earth, we ask for:
A spirit of contentment and thankfulness
A spirit of zeal and enthusiasm
A spirit of wisdom
A spirit of gentleness and patience
A spirit of love, joy, and peace
A spirit of faith
A spirit of help and strength
A spirit of insight and discernment
A spirit of rest for the soul, complete surrender to the Lord, and trust in His love
The Lord also wants us to ask for His vision and dreams so that He may fulfill His purpose and will in our lives.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, teach us what to ask for.
Teach us, O Spirit of God, to live the joy of heaven on earth every day.
Teach us to seek Your will and await Your time.
Teach us to rest and trust in Your love, care, and faithfulness.
Teach us what to ask for every day.
The Lord says:
"Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for today is its trouble." (Matthew 6:34)
May your morning be filled with the light of Christ.
