8- What is the Great Commission of Christ?
The Great Commission
The term “Great Commission" was mentioned in the Gospel of Matthew:"Then Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And lo, I am with you always, even to the very end of the age." Amen."(Matthew 28:18-20)
First: Who gave the Great Commission and to whom was it given?
The Lord Jesus Christ is the one who gave the Great Commission. He is the one with the authority who can give it to others, and He says: All authority has been given to me; go and make disciples of all nations.
To whom was it given? It was given to the disciples in the days of the Lord Christ, but not only to the disciples but to everyone who believed in Christ and became a true disciple and follower of Him. He provided the guarantee when He said: Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
Second: What is the Great Commission?
The Great Commission is simply summarized in what the Lord Jesus commanded, saying:"Go and make disciples of all nations."
Third: What is the difference between preaching and discipleship?
Discipleship begins with preaching, and we cannot be satisfied with preaching alone, because we cannot reach the whole world with preaching.
Fourth: When will the Great Commission be fulfilled?
In this generation, in every generation, believers are charged with delivering the message to others around them.
Fifth: Where do we go to fulfill the Great Commission?
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."(Acts 1:8)
The scope of fulfilling the Great Commission is the entire earth, but it is preferable to start with Jerusalem"your home, your friends, your relatives"then from Jerusalem to all Judea and finally Samaria and to the end of the earth.
Sixth: How is the Great Commission fulfilled?
God commanded,"…Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature."(Mark 16:15)
God’s plan is discipleship and spiritual multiplication, as stated in the letter to Timothy:"And the things you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also."(2 Timothy 2:2)
Spiritual multiplication here refers to four successive generations: the apostle Paul, Timothy, faithful men, and others.
Application:
Make sure you are filled with the Holy Spirit.
Pray in faith for God to guide you in making a personal plan for who to go to, how, and where.
Write down a detailed plan for your plan.
Learn everything you need to implement your plan.
Plant abundantly.
Continue to gain, build, train, and send.
The Great Commission is of utmost importance, for through it the number of the church, the bride of Christ, is completed, and He comes to rapture her to be with Him forever.
The Word says God:"…how can they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without a preacher?" Will you go?
Finally, I want to say to you, if you don’t go, who will?
