4- How do we deal with different patterns and situations?

Different patterns and situations

People are different, different in personalities, cultures, and age groups. It is not smart to present the same message to all patterns, and it is also not smart to expect the response to your message to be the same.

 Personality types:
1-The religious personality

Unfortunately, in our Arab societies, it is the most difficult personality type and the most difficult pattern because most people grew up in a religious environment

A study was conducted in some countries on the question: What does religion mean to you?
  The answers came as follows:

Israel: 50% said that religion is everything. Iran and Saudi Arabia: 70%. As for Egypt, 100% said that religion is everything.

The religious person does not have a sense of need for Jesus Christ, nor a sense that he needs to repent of a certain sin, or start a new path. So he feels that he does not need a decision like this.

The Old Testament Law says that a person must keep the whole law. “For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.” (James 2:10)

If we take a simple example of poison and water, one drop of poison and 99 drops of water will lead to death. There are many characters in the Bible who fit the description of religious, such as: Philip, and the Samaritan woman. When Jesus met her, she said that our fathers worshiped on this mountain. But the Lord Jesus asked her direct questions to lead her to salvation through her need.

2-The Postponer Character
This is the person who is not interested and refuses to think about his eternity. He may realize that he has a real need to accept Jesus Christ, but he postpones. This person often thinks that he will lose what he enjoys now, so he refuses to accept Jesus Christ.

Try to find out why this person is delaying the decision to accept Christ. Ask him what is preventing him from accepting Christ’s call now. Identify the real problem he is facing and deal with it, and explain to him the benefits and advantages he will enjoy by accepting Christ.

Sometimes the message of fear of hell and fire is helpful to some people. But make sure that when you present the message through this approach, you are also presenting a message of love. Use biblical examples of the postponed character such as the rich fool and the flood.

3-The Unsure Character
This person may have previously prayed to accept Christ. But as a result of his continued and successive defeat from sin, he has developed a feeling that he has not accepted Christ or that he needs to seek Christ again.

Ask him how a person becomes a true believer? What does it mean to accept Christ? Remind him that faith is the only language God uses to communicate with man. We accept Christ by faith, as stated in the Book of Revelation, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me."(Revelation 3:20)

Ask him about his role and the role of Christ through his understanding of the previous verse, and help him realize and be sure that Christ has entered his life, according to His promise when He said:"I will never leave you nor forsake you."(Hebrews 13:5).

4-The personality of the one who answers a question with a question
This person is one of the argumentative personalities who loves discussion. Do not allow him to exhaust your effort and time.

Do not talk to him about general principles or convictions, but talk about him personally, about his personal needs. Ask him this question:"If I can answer your questions, is it possible for you to accept Christ?" And try to reach a breakpoint with him.

5-The Atheist Personality
A person may be a real atheist, or a formal atheist. A real atheist builds his atheism on real personal convictions for him. As for the formal atheist, he enjoys being different from those around him, he enjoys when others try to convince him and he responds to them.

In your conversation with the atheist, focus on logic and truth. And make sure that he really denies the existence of God. Look for the hidden reasons that make him deny the existence of God. Explain to him that his failure to acknowledge the existence of God does not deny the existence of God in reality. Look with him for the person who stands behind all the secrets of life, ask him who he is? Then you can easily pray with him and declare to him that he is God.

These were some patterns of some of the personalities that you may meet while preaching the Gospel. As we mentioned at the beginning, it is not smart to use the same method with everyone, and it is also not smart to expect the same reaction and response with the different types of people.
