9- Can we disciple others online and how?
Discipleship through the Internet (Distance Discipleship)
Distance discipleship was a need in the early church, as the Lord Jesus and the disciples did not go to all places.
And the Apostle Paul, despite all his giant missionary journeys, needed to send about 13 letters to reach many places. And the letters were the means followed (from a distance) to deliver the truths of the gospel to make multiple disciples in whom the Holy Spirit can invest through the word. Therefore, distance discipleship is as old as the word of the Lord.
Is there a need for distance discipleship?
The direct answer may be"no", but the Lord Jesus puts the challenge of large numbers before us. As happened in the miracle of feeding the 5,000 people, where the Lord said to the disciples: "Give them something to eat".
The Lord Jesus puts before us the challenge of large numbers of people whom we cannot communicate with face to face. Here comes the importance of communication and distance discipleship, as it is a wider field to reach the Gospel to all creation.
There is great importance in having a team that serves with you in making multiple disciples through online discipleship (remotely) using various means of available technology.
So,
1 - Choose the available: Choosing the person who is available all the time is better than the person who has many talents and does not give you time.
2 - Discover the possibilities: Discover the possibilities of the people who are with you so that you can be an online team (remote ministry).
3- Use the available means: such as emails - skype - twitter - whatsapp - fans - chat.
4- Encourage and train others: to be a team for distance ministry.
5 - Expect resistance: But trust that the Lord by the Holy Spirit is able to use this distance discipleship.
