"Behold, I have given you a wise and discerning heart"(1 Kings 3:12).
The Bible tells us that King Solomon, at the beginning of his reign, asked God to give him a discerning heart to govern his people, and the Lord granted him just as he asked.
The Lord said to him in a dream,"Behold, I have given you a wise and discerning heart, such that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor will anyone like you arise after you."
13"And I have also given you what you did not ask for, riches and honor, so that there shall not be a man like you among the kings all your days." 14"If you will walk in my ways and keep my statutes and my commandments, as your father David walked, then I will prolong your days."(1 Kings 3:12-14)
Unfortunately, in Solomon’s old age, his heart was not fully devoted to the Lord his God, as had his father David. His many wives turned his heart after other gods.
"So Solomon did evil in the eyes of the Lord; he did not fully follow the Lord."Like his father David."(1 Kings 11:4-6)
Solomon did evil in the eyes of the Lord. He did not obey God’s commandments and his father’s commandments. Solomon’s heart turned after other gods and after his own lusts and pleasures.
He followed his own lustful wisdom."This wisdom does not come down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic."(James 3:15)
So the Lord was angry with Solomon, for the Lord appeared to him twice,
10"and commanded him concerning this matter, that he should not follow other gods. But he did not keep what the Lord had commanded."(1 Kings 11:9-10)
He followed his own desires and lusts, straying from the Lord’s path and not submitting to the Lord’s voice because of his pride.
Then divine discipline came to him, and the kingdom began. During his reign, the kingdom collapsed in every respect. After prosperity, peace, and wisdom, he led the kingdom to collapse.
The Lord told him that the kingdom would be torn apart during the reign of his son, because the Lord had not forgotten His covenant with his father David.
Sometimes we think God doesn't see us. We do evil and think the matter is over.
We forget that "all things are naked and open to the eyes of him with whom we have to deal." (Hebrews 4:13)
The Lord, out of His love for us, speaks to us in many ways and through many messages to bring us to our senses, repent, and humble ourselves. Unfortunately, some do not heed until the Lord orders divine discipline to return us to the right path.
The prayers, intercessions, and tears of parents for their children are not in vain. The Lord will allow children to experience distress, discipline, and fall in order to return them to the right path.
God will not leave us in the abyss.
God will speak to us in every way.
But do we hear the voice of the Lord?
Do we ask for what is on the Father's heart?
Jesus said, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you" (Matthew 7:7).
But more importantly, what do we ask for?
Our Heavenly Father
Give us a wise and discerning heart.
Give us a submissive heart.
Have mercy on us, O Lord.
Have mercy on our children.
Have mercy on the new generation from the spirit of pride, lack of submission, and running after self and lust.
Have mercy on us, O Lord.
