"Be wise as serpents and harmless as doves." (Matthew 10:16)
When a serpent or viper wants to attack its prey, it takes its time and walks very quietly until it reaches what it wants.
One of the most important qualities of a dove is gentleness.
Often we get to know many people for certain relationships, such as work, marriage, friendship, or to understand a certain teaching, etc.
We cannot know them well or know their intentions and what is going on inside their souls.
Sometimes the outward appearance is suspicious, and other times we see people in their outward appearance at the peak of gentleness, but we do not know what is inside them.
Sometimes we are deceived by some teachings from the Word of God and we think that they agree with the Word of God because of our ignorance of His Word.
But the word of the Lord says:
"Do not judge by the outward appearance, but judge with righteous judgment." (John 7:24)
So the Lord wants us to act with meekness and be patient with them. We can allow them to come a certain distance away from us, but with caution.
But without God, we cannot reveal what is inside them. We need to ask the Spirit of God to reveal to us the true nature of people. The Lord gives us the spirit of discernment.
Jesus said: "For without me you can do nothing." (John 5:15)
"Many people appear to be meek, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves!" (Matthew 7:15)
The Lord, in His love for us, will not allow anyone to take advantage of us more than necessary.
If we ask for the spirit of discernment,
If we ask for the Lord to reveal them for who they really are.
Our Heavenly Father
I need wisdom
I need gentleness
I need Your Holy Spirit to expose every falsehood, every hypocrisy, every lie, every misleading teaching, and every ravenous wolves circling around me.
I ask for the spirit of discernment for my life, Lord
Help me understand Your Word so that I may know and distinguish every spirit of teaching.
"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world." (1 John 4:1).
Good morning with the light of Christ
